Description
This is a multi-purpose farm building located on the north side of the farmyard at Caer'afallen, dating from the 19th century. It features a long lofted range with a higher cart-shed at the right end. The building is constructed of white-washed random stone, with the main range covered by a slate roof and the cart-shed topped with a corrugated iron roof.
The cart-shed has two large segmental-arched openings made of stone voussoirs, which are separated by a stone pier. Above these openings are two large iron casement windows with small-pane glazing, also under segmental heads of stone voussoirs. All openings are slightly offset to the left of center. The east gable end has a flight of stone steps leading to a loft door, which is also under a segmental head of stone voussoirs, and there is a weather-vane at the gable apex.
To the left of the cart-shed is a long farm range, with stonework that continues from the cart-shed. A compass is mounted on the wall at the junction of these two structures. This range has ground floor openings with segmental brick heads, which include mainly split doors and windows with opening ventilators, as well as windows or loft hatches above. At the left end, there is a possible stable with a doorway flanked by windows. To the right, there is a former doorway that has been infilled with a window, followed by two closely spaced doorways with a window to their right. Towards the right end, there is another window and doorway. The loft features two loft hatches flanked by two windows, and at the right end, there is a boarded loft hatch under a gabled half-dormer. Additionally, a low two-bay cart-shed has been added to the left end, with bays divided by a stone pier and covered by a slate roof.
The interior of the building has not been inspected.
