Description
Pentre-Trewyn Farmhouse is a 2-storey building with roughcast render over rubble, exposed in the side and rear walls, and a slate roof. The end wall stacks have both been rebuilt. The main range has three windows and features a rear wing to the right and an outshut to the rear left. The central entrance is in an added timber porch, with margin-light glazing in the upper panels of the doorway and in the flanking 12-pane sash windows, which are similar to those above. The lower openings in the rear wing have been renewed, but the first floor still retains 12-pane sash windows.
The farmhouse has a 2-unit plan with a central entrance and stair hall, along with the rear wing and outshut. Many internal details date back to the early 19th-century remodelling of the house. These include the staircase with plain spindles, a swept rail, and moulded tread ends, as well as the panelled shutters on the windows, including those on the front door. The hallway and the right-hand room feature plaster cornices, with the cornice running around the main beam. Some constructional details from the original building remain, such as the heavy transverse beams with run-out chamfer stops, chamfer stopped joists in the left-hand room, and the massive fireplace with a bressumer in the right-hand room.
