Description

Trewyn Bach is a group of buildings that includes a farmhouse with attached farm buildings and a small cottage added in the early 19th century, located on the northeast side of the B5347. The house and cottage are constructed from very roughly coursed rubble and are limewashed on the front and side elevations, topped with slate roofs. The front wall of the attached farm buildings is made of painted brick, indicating a reconstruction of an earlier structure, while the rear wall is made of rough boulder rubble and covered with a corrugated iron roof.

The farmhouse is a small two-unit dwelling with one and a half storeys. It features an off-centre doorway with a plank door beneath a small gabled porch. Flanking the doorway are iron mullioned and transomed windows, with similar windows forming dormers on the first floor. The end wall has chimney stacks, with the left-hand chimney projecting from the gable end. At the rear, there is an outshut that is mostly below ground level and has two gabled dormer windows.

The adjoining farm building is partially hidden by later corrugated iron sheds on the front elevation, but an upper loft entry can be seen. The rear elevation includes a doorway and a gabled loft entry, both leading to the upper level since the building is built into a bank.

The small cottage next to the farmhouse on the southwest is a single-unit, low two-storey building with a gable end stack. It has central windows, with the lower window enlarged to serve as a doorway. The original entrance was likely on the right-hand gable but is now obscured by later additions.
