Description
The detached farmbuilding at Trewyn Bach was probably built as a barn and shippon in the early 18th century. It features rough rubble construction with some substantial timbering visible in the lower gable wall and has corrugated iron roofs. The building is situated against a slope and is divided laterally, likely to provide a shippon at the lower end and a barn at the upper end. The wide gable end has a roof that dips down to either side over short outshot aisled extensions, one of which may be part of the original construction, while the northwest extension is clearly a later addition. Each outshut has a doorway, and there are two additional doorways in the main gable wall, although one has been converted into a window. There is also an additional window set high towards the gable apex, and all openings have flat timber lintels. The west elevation features a doorway with an overlight at the upper end, adjacent to an internal division. The upper section of the range has a doorway up steps to the left, and another doorway towards the center, with two tiers of vents on either side.
