Description
Treworlas House is an early 19th-century building located in Philleigh. It features slatestone rubble walls and a half-hipped roof made of reconstituted stone, with brick chimneys on the side walls. The house has a two-room, double-depth layout with a central staircase and stands two storeys high. The symmetrical southwest front has three windows, a central doorway with an original six-panel door that is now partly glazed, and a pedimented wooden doorcase adorned with dentils. The original hornless 16-pane sash window is above the door, while the other windows are slightly wider and feature original hornless 20-pane sashes, with much of the glass being crown glass. Cambered brick arches are present over the openings, and there is a modillion eaves cornice.
Inside, the interior remains largely unchanged, showcasing an original stick baluster dog-leg staircase, arched niches flanking the fireplace in the left front room, two-panel doors with butt hinges, and panelled window jambs.
To the front of the house, there is a semi-circular garden wall made of granite-coped slatestone rubble. It includes a four-step rubble mounting block, along with a wooden fence and gate featuring rail and dowel construction.
