Description

Marian Mawr Farmhouse is a two-storey building with three windows, constructed from roughly axe-dressed stone with rendered window dressings. It features a restored slate roof with a tile ridge, coped gables, and end chimneys, one of which is oddly angled and external. On the left side, there is a kitchen and bedroom unit that has been heightened to two storeys and has a flat roof, with its upper half rendered. The farmhouse includes an original wing on the west side of the rear elevation, which now functions as a farm outbuilding. Additional outbuildings have been added to the east of this wing, forming a square layout. The main windows are two-light casements with hand-made glass. A recent stone porch with a half-glazed door and a pitched roof has been added.

Blocked or walled-up early stone windows can still be seen on the west side of the rear wing and in the east gable wall of the main structure. The lintel and right jamb of the original main entrance doorway are now exposed on the left side of the front elevation.

Inside, there is a massive beam across the sitting room (originally the kitchen) that is chamfered and stopped, with a spliced front end. The original kitchen fireplace features a deep timber bressummer and rebuilt jambs. On the first floor, stone fireplaces with deep bressummers are present at each end and in the north gable wall of the rear wing, although one is walled up.
