Description
The gates, gate piers, forecourt wall, and railings at Ysgol Maelgwyn are notable features from the early 20th century. The forecourt wall is made of brick and topped with stone coping. In front of the school building, there are iron railings, while to the right and left are higher plain walls, with the right side featuring round-backed brick coping. There are two pairs of main school gates located opposite each end of the school front, each pair flanked by square gate piers that have 4-way gabled caps. The double cast-iron gates are designed in a mild Art-Nouveau style, featuring a central roundel. To the right, there are wider gates for vehicular access that resemble the main gates but have simpler gate piers. Additionally, there is a fourth entrance further to the right, which has plain gates situated between piers with gabled caps.
