Description
The Carlton Public House is a four-storey building located on South Parade, featuring a three-bay design. It has a slate roof with a hip on the southeast side. The eaves are adorned with antefixae, modillions, and a Greek key band, while the right side has quoins. The third floor has small paired sash windows that are slightly curved at the top corners. On the second floor, there are windows with two camber-headed lights, each topped with an entablature. The first floor showcases canted three-light bay windows at each end bay, with segmental heads for the sashes, and a two-light window with a triangular pediment in the center. The ground floor features seven round-headed windows with engraved glass and wood panelled stall risers. A cast-iron verandah with a lean-to glazed metal framed roof, supported by cast-iron columns with spandrels, extends across the entire front and wraps around the corner along the southeast elevation on Mostyn Street.
The southeast elevation facing Mostyn Street also consists of four storeys and three bays. It includes an attic storey with paired windows in each end bay and a single light window in the center. The second floor has paired camber-headed windows in the outer bays and a single camber-headed window in the center, all with entablatures. The first floor features triple windows with triangular pediments in each end bay and a single light window with a triangular pediment in the center. The ground floor has a cast-iron verandah and pub windows similar to those on the South Parade elevation.
