Description

The Eastfield Hotel is a public house built in 1906 by architect A.E. Cogswell. It features colour glazed brick and tile facings, topped with a hipped roof made of Welsh slate and a central brick chimney. The building is two storeys high and has six bays.

The central third bay contains a recessed four-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed. This door is flanked by fixed sidelights and a fanlight, all set beneath a glazed brick round arch that has a drip mould and keystone. To the right and far left, there are two round-headed bar windows with engraved glass, and on the far right, there is a shorter window with a sill at impost level, each also set under a similar glazed brick round arch.

On the left side of the second bay and the right side of the fifth bay, there are two-leaf panelled doors with overlights, each beneath an ornamented flat glazed brick arch. The doors and windows are flanked by Ionic pilasters with moulded tile imposts, and there is a fascia and cornice that projects over the flanking and central pilasters.

To the right, there is a one-storey, one-bay wide extension that continues the pilaster, fascia, and cornice design, topped with a glazed brick coped parapet. The first floor features six sash windows set beneath a band fascia and cornice, with a curved pediment, entablature, and Ionic capitals over the second and third bays. The glazed brick panelled parapet has coping and is pierced over the first, third, fourth, and sixth bays with balusters.

Over the second and fifth bays, there are ornate ogee pediments, each with flanking panels and scrolls, and a finial above the pediment and panels. The public house front extends to the left return facing Prince Albert Road, which is five bays wide.
