Description

Sunnyside and Café T'air is a pair of 2½-storey shop and houses built in the 19th century. The lower storey features rusticated roughcast, while the upper storey is rendered to resemble timber framing, all under a slate roof with a central brick stack on the front slope. Large 2-light shop windows are located on either side of a central recessed shop entrance, which has a half-glazed door. The house entrance, accessed via stone steps, features an outer half-glazed panel door, and there is also a doorway with a boarded door that leads to a passageway for the rear premises at No. 139.

On the first floor, there is an outer window and an inner oriel window, both of which have been replaced in their original openings, along with a gabled roof-dormer window. A cast iron veranda spans Nos 131, 137, and 143, with 6 bays in total. The veranda has round posts, with the lower parts fluted and topped with Corinthian capitals, and features foliage brackets with rosettes, a foliage openwork fascia, and brattishing with corner finials. In the third bay, the fascia is designed as an iron grille displaying '[D]EGANWY' in raised letters, along with a crest and a panel that reads 'J E JONES'. The sixth bay has a similar crest, but its original name panel has been removed.
