Description
Deganwy Castle is a fortification situated between two steep hillocks, with a bailey located between them. The former southern entrance features a short section of rubble-stone wall near the old gatehouse, and additional footings of the wall can also be seen. On the northern side, there is a bank and ditch, along with a short section of rubble-stone wall at right angles, likely part of a gateway, although the northern wall was never completed. The western hillock shows remnants of a mid-13th century curtain wall to the south and east, with a more substantial earlier section still visible at the northwestern corner. This area includes the base of a round turret and a significant retaining wall, both constructed of coursed rubble stone. No structures remain on the eastern hillock, where Mansells Tower once stood.
