Description
Gorse Bank and Townstyle is a pair of 2½-storey shop and houses built in the 19th century. The lower storey features rusticated roughcast, while the upper storey is rendered to resemble timber framing. The building is topped with a slate roof that has a central brick stack on the front slope.
Large 2-light shop windows are located on either side of a central recessed shop entrance, which serves Café T'air and Townstyle, and features a half-glazed door. The house entrance is reached via stone steps and has an outer half-glazed panel door. Beyond this entrance, there is a doorway with a boarded door and an overlight that has been boarded up, leading to a passage that provides access to the rear premises at No 129.
On the first floor, there is an outer window and an inner oriel window, both of which have been replaced in their original openings, along with a gabled roof-dormer window.
A cast iron veranda spans across Nos 131, 137, and 143, consisting of 6 bays. The veranda features round posts, with the lower parts fluted and adorned with Corinthian capitals. It includes foliage brackets with rosettes, a foliage openwork fascia, and brattishing with corner finials. In the third bay, the fascia is designed as an iron grille displaying the name '[D]EGANWY' in raised letters, along with a crest and a panel that reads 'J E JONES'. The sixth bay also has a similar crest, but the original name panel has been removed.
The building has not been inspected.
