Description
The Old School is a single-storey building constructed of rubble with a slate roof that has half-hipped ends, deep verges, and plain bargeboards. To the left of the center, there is a gabled porch featuring plain bargeboards, which contains a 19th-century boarded door framed with a stopped-chamfered design and a cambered head. The porch reveals have small square lights with original lozenge cast-iron glazing. To the right of the porch, there are two modern six-pane windows, and one to the left, all set in primary openings with cambered heads, projecting stone sills, and rough-dressed voussoirs. The east gable features a large cambered window similar to those described, with an inset stone plaque above it inscribed with 'National School, Erected 1836'. The west gable end is roughcast and includes a low 20th-century addition with an entrance to the north. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
