Description
Dyffryn Elwy is a building constructed of rubble, featuring an original graded, shallow-pitched, hipped slate roof with lead flashings and overhanging eaves. It has two plain chimneys topped with simple cornicing and Victorian chimney pots. The facade has three bays with a raised ground floor and a central entrance. This entrance includes a single-storey flat-roofed porch, which is accessed by a flight of steps from the garden. The porch is supported by square corner posts and has a simple moulded entablature. The original six-panel door, with the lower two panels blind, is topped by a rectangular multi-pane fanlight. Both the ground and first floors have their original, slightly-recessed 12-pane unhorned sashes, which feature fanned slate-stone lintels and projecting sills.
At the rear, there is a lower, wide gabled service wing that has additional original 12-pane sashes, along with a later 19th-century four-pane sash on the west side. On the east side, there are 12-pane sashes on the first floor and later 19th-century paired four-pane sashes on the ground floor. A single-storey hipped-roofed modern extension is attached to the southeast. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
