Description
Mews Cottage, originally a barn, is constructed from rubble and features slate-coped gable parapets along with a medium-pitched slate roof. The modern entrance is located on the southwest side and includes an early 20th-century part-glazed door, accompanied by a small square modern window to the right. There is a blocked entrance with a cambered head, made of rubble voussoirs, which appears to be original, along with two additional blocked entrances to the left of the door; the one on the right has modern glazing in the upper section. The roof has two 20th-century gabled dormers, each fitted with 12-pane casements and plain bargeboards.
On the northwest gable end, there is a gabled first-floor oriel featuring plain bargeboards and a boarded gable with small-pane wraparound glazing, along with a two-light sliding sash window beneath that has a cambered head. At the rear, there is a single-storey 19th-century extension to the northeast, balanced by a projection to the southeast, creating a 'U' shape around a cobbled yard. A plain cast iron column supports an outshot rear roof, which forms a long open porch connecting the two flanking ranges. Inside, the rear wall of the main block is splayed back on the left and right, where there are entrances with boarded doors and further cambered-headed windows. A walled muck yard is located beyond.
