Description
The rubble cart shed at Bryn Eisteddfod is a small building from the early 19th century, associated with the nearby L-shaped stable block. Neither structure appears on a 1792 estate map, suggesting that the cart shed may have been built during Hugh Chambres Jones' rebuilding phase in the mid-1830s, or possibly a generation earlier for his father. The shed is constructed of rubble with rough-dressed stone quoins and remnants of lime render, topped by a slate roof. It features a wide opening at the front with a timber lintel and a modern timber prop in the center. On the road-facing side, there is a small unglazed upper window with a timber lintel, and external stone steps lead to the upper loft on the opposite gable, which has a boarded door. At the rear, there is a later rubble catslide extension facing the road, with an angled northern side that includes a slit-light. The southern side has a window flanked by entrances.
