Description

Goetre Farmhouse is a 19th-century building constructed from rubble on boulder foundations, topped with renewed steeply-pitched slate roofs. The main section is built into the slope of a hill to the east and features an end chimney with weather coursing and capping. The north side, which serves as the entrance, has an off-set entrance to the left, featuring a 20th-century part-glazed door with an incorporated 2-pane light. To the left of the door is a recessed 19th-century casement window with six panes, while to the right is a tripartite wooden window with six panes in its original opening, complete with a projecting slate lintel acting as a dripstone. Above, there is a rubble gabled dormer with a modern window and a modern rooflight.

The north-south storeyed range faces the lane to the west. It has a rubble gable parapet to the left, along with a plain stack that has weather coursing and capping. The primary entrance is off-centre to the left, featuring a recessed part-glazed stable door. To the left of this entrance is a 19th-century casement window with four panes, and above it are two four-pane sash windows located under the eaves. To the right of the entrance is a large gabled bay, which is the flush gable-end of the earlier block and has a steeper roof pitch on the north side. This bay includes a small fixed window with two panes on the ground floor and a six-pane casement window above.

Inside, the farmhouse retains stopped-chamfered beamed ceilings with tongue stops on the ground floor of the storeyed range, as well as a further beamed ceiling featuring a large inglenook fireplace and bressummer in the earlier section.
