Description

Large L-shaped polite vernacular farmhouse; front wing has two storeys and basement above ground; two storey rear wing and lean-to within internal angle. Built of local stone random rubble with large cut stone quoins; cambered brick arches to openings. Welsh slate gabled roofs with slate ridges and plain timber barge boards; gable stacks of squared rubble with oversailing stone cappings. Stack above NW gable has coeval square chimney pots. Symmetrical front elevation, facing NE, has 3 bays of windows with 8/8 hornless sashes and narrow glazing bars. Terrace at ground floor level with rubble retaining walls provides access to C20 central boarded front door with rectangular fanlight. NW gable end has two C20 replacement 6/6 timber sash windows and boarded door to basement. To right, lean-to has a C19 sash window of similar proportions. Rear door in lean-to accessible from terrace at ground floor level retained and bounded by curved rubble wall. Rear wing has 8/8 hornless sash window in NW elevation and replacement windows in SW gable end.

Central staircase plan; closed string staircase with stick balusters and moulded handrail. Ledged and battened doors. Early C19 fire surround and decorated cast iron fireplace in ground floor room N of hallway.
