Description
Plas yn Trofarth is a two-storey vernacular farmhouse, rectangular in shape. It is constructed from local stone rubble on an offset rubble plinth, with painted roughcast render on the elevations. The roof is gabled, made of Welsh slate, featuring clayware ridge tiles and 20th-century gable stacks. The symmetrical front elevation faces southeast and includes three bays of 20th-century steel casement windows, along with a central 20th-century lean-to porch that has a side entry.
Inside, there is a notable 16th-century three-bay arch-braced collar roof, which includes raking struts above the collars, butt purlins, and cusped wind braces. The later attic floor has a single full-length axial beam. The first-floor structure from the 16th century is framed in three bays, with two transverse beams; one on the north side features a monogram IHS carved in low relief within a sunk panel. The ground and first floors have 16th-century plank and muntin partitions, although most are covered with later plaster finishes.
