Description
The lofted stable range at Argoed is constructed from boulders, with packing stones and large stones used for the quoins and lintels. It features a modern slate roof with stone copings. The main facade faces south into a yard, where the ground floor has a central doorway flanked by a small window on the left (west). There may have been additional openings on the right, now hidden by an added cartshed from the adjacent stable range. The first-floor windows are arranged in pairs under the eaves; it likely originally had three windows, but now only the two westernmost remain. The ground level at the rear is higher than at the front, with a blocked doorway on the left (east) end and two windows under the eaves on the right. A small window with a small-paned light is located in the east gable apex, and there is a larger blocked pitching hole on the right.
The linear agricultural range is built from rubble masonry and connects to the lofted stable range via a drystone wall. It has a roof made of profiled material and retains original stone copings at the north gable, while the south gable has been partially rebuilt with profiled material and features a wide doorway for entrance.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
