Field Barn S of Hafod Ifan

The Field Barn south of Hafod Ifan is a late 17th century or early 18th century structure originally associated with Hafod Ifan farm. It is a long rectangular building constructed of rubble, partly built with boulders and featuring a projecting boulder plinth on the eastern side. The barn has a renewed slate roof with rubble gable parapets.

On the southern side, there are five plain entrances; the entrance on the far right is blocked, and the second from the left has a ribbed, boarded door. The central three entrances have expressed timber lintels. At the rear, there is a loading bay with an exposed timber lintel and a modern frame. A ventilation slit is located at the apex of the eastern gable, with a line of projecting stones beneath it, likely used for securing the thatch on the original roof.

Inside, the barn features a four-bay roof with chamfered tie beams and plain, raked struts, although most of the purlins and rafters have been replaced. The truss between the first and second bays is of upper-cruck design, and the floor is made of earth.
