Description
2 Bryn Ffynnon is part of a terrace of three estate cottages built in the third quarter of the 19th century for Lord Penrhyn after he acquired the estate in 1856. The cottages are constructed from rubble with shallow-pointed slatestone lintels above the openings. They have a slate roof featuring a tiled ridge and deep verges. The terrace is symmetrical, with the central unit, No 2, being slightly advanced and gabled, and having flush buttresses on either side. The deep verges are complemented by simple decorative bargeboards. The central entrance is flanked by windows, with paired windows above set within the gable. Nos 1 and 3, which flank the central unit, each have their own outer entrances and paired windows. Throughout the cottages, there are part-glazed 20th-century doors and 6-pane sash windows. The structure features two tall, shared chimneys on either side of the central unit, which have a moulded cornice and capping along with weathercoursing. At the rear, Nos 1 and 3 are slightly advanced while No 2 is recessed in the center, with modern and original 4-pane sash windows placed asymmetrically.
