Description
Nos 1-3 Bryn Ffynnon is a terrace of three estate cottages built in the third quarter of the 19th century, specifically for Lord Penrhyn after he acquired the estate in 1856. The cottages are one-and-a-half storeys high and constructed from rubble, featuring shallow-pointed slatestone lintels above the openings. The roof is made of slate with a tiled ridge and deep verges.
The terrace has a symmetrical design, with the central unit (No 2) being slightly advanced and gabled, complemented by flush buttresses on either side. The deep verges are adorned with simple decorative bargeboards. The central entrance is flanked by windows, with paired windows situated above within the gable. Nos 1 and 3 are positioned on either side of No 2, each having outer entrances and paired windows. Throughout the cottages, there are part-glazed 20th-century doors and 6-pane sash windows.
Two tall, shared chimneys are located on either side of the central unit, featuring a moulded cornice and capping, along with weathercoursing. At the rear, Nos 1 and 3 are slightly advanced, while No 2 is recessed in the center, showcasing asymmetrically placed modern and original 4-pane sash windows.
