Description
1 Bryn Ffynnon is part of a terrace of three estate cottages built in the third quarter of the 19th century, specifically for Lord Penrhyn after he acquired the estate in 1856. The cottages are constructed from rubble and feature shallow-pointed slatestone lintels above the openings. The slate roof has a tiled ridge and deep verges.
The terrace has a symmetrical design, with the central unit, No 2, being advanced and gabled, and flanked by flush buttresses. It has deep verges and simple decorative bargeboards. The central entrance is flanked by windows, with paired windows above within the gable. Nos 1 and 3 are on either side of No 2, each having outer entrances and paired windows. All units have part-glazed 20th-century doors and six-pane sash windows.
There are two tall, shared chimneys on either side of the central unit, featuring a moulded cornice and capping with weathercoursing. At the rear, Nos 1 and 3 are slightly advanced, while No 2 is recessed in the center, with modern and original four-pane sash windows placed asymmetrically.
