Description

The Riverside Hotel is a building constructed from local rubble stone, featuring end banded pilasters. The ground floor is rendered and has banded rustication beneath a continuous cornice. It has a slate roof with end stacks and stands three storeys tall with three window bays. The entrance is through a tall open rusticated porch with a flat roof, located between the first and second bays from the south. The ground floor includes large iron windows in a margin glazed style, complete with hopper vents. On the first floor, there are 16-pane sash windows set in deep reveals, adorned with painted radial heads. The top floor features twelve-pane single sash windows.

At the rear, the building has been extended, including a two-storey wing that may be of earlier construction, now serving as the kitchen and separate accommodation. This wing has a panelled door and two margin-glazed windows on the ground floor, with a single modern window above. The gable stack is present, and while the ground floor continues the rustication of the main building, the gable end is pebbledashed. Additionally, there is a similar single-storey, one-bay wing on the south gable end.

Inside, the entrance lobby leads to rooms that contain bars on each side. The left public bar features two longitudinal boxed beams and a fireplace, while the right bar has a single chamfered beam. No other significant historic features remain.
