Description
Pont Llwyngwern is a bridge built of fine ashlar, featuring an elliptical arch that spans 12 meters with well-formed voussoirs rising 5.1 meters above the water level to a central raised keystone. The bridge has flush spandrels and a parapet above a horizontal string course. At each end, there are wide slightly battered pilasters, each with a blind pointed arch. The carriageway is level with a formation of 3.8 meters between the low parapets, which are 0.45 meters thick and capped with large copings between hipped stones. On the inner face, there are oval slate plaques; one side displays a mantled coat of arms with the date 1853, while the other side shows the name Pont Llwyngwern. The running surface has been raised, partially obscuring the fine lettering. The parapets extend to the west entry end and form an oval embayment.
