Description
1 Lion Street is a two-storey former pair of cottages, built from rubble masonry. The building has a moderately pitched slate roof with close eaves and decorative bargeboards. There is a central stone chimney stack with water tabling. On the first floor, there are two later gabled stone dormers with rubble cheeks and bargeboards. The windows are Victorian sash types with stone lintels.
On the ground floor to the right, there is a 19th-century shopfront featuring a plain fascia with a dripboard supported by brackets above a three-light shop window, accompanied by a plank door to the right. A shallow rectangular fanlight sits above the shop window, and there are sunk panelled pilasters and a rubble stallriser. To the left, there is a vertically paned eight-pane sash window, although the horizontal glazing bars have been removed. A doorway is located at the extreme left, topped by a three-light rectangular fanlight above a part-glazed modern door, with a long rendered lintel above it.
