Description

The Former Women's Institute Hall is a converted farm building dating from the 18th century. It is a rectangular single-storey structure with a catslide roof added to the rear, which is offset to the right and does not extend the full width of the building. The walls are constructed of rubble stone laid in courses, and the slate roof is raised at the back to accommodate the catslide, featuring metal ridge vents.

At the front, there is a projecting timber porch in the center, topped with a lean-to slate roof. The porch includes a door to the right and a window facing forward. On either side of the porch, there are wide three-light windows with transoms. The walls also feature air-vents. The rear lean-to extension has a stable-type door with a glazed upper section on the right side and two windows on the rear face.

Inside, the main hall is a single open space with a raised platform at the eastern end, which includes a proscenium arch adorned with a red dragon and the painted inscription ‘DROS WLAD AC AELWYD’ (translated as "For Country and Home"). The lower trusses with collars are visible, and there are double panelled doors leading to the porch, with the upper panels being glazed and a plain overlight above. The rear extension contains a kitchen, a small hallway, and a WC, along with two doorways leading to this extension. A former fireplace or range in the kitchen has been blocked.
