Description
Garthowen, located on Marine Terrace, is a 3-storey, 3-bay house built in the late Georgian style. It features a roughcast front with rusticated quoin strips, set over a slate-stone base, and has a slate roof with projecting eaves. The house is part of a range with No 7 and includes a roughcast stack on the left and a stone stack on the right.
A central porch has been added, which has a flat roof concealed behind a moulded cornice. The porch contains a half-glazed fielded-panel door with small-pane glazing that includes a small diamond light, topped by an Art Nouveau coloured-glass overlight. To the left of the porch is a small-pane window with a circular light, and there are small lights in the side walls.
The windows of the main house are set under hood moulds on the lower two storeys. The lower storey features 12-pane hornless sash windows, while the middle and upper storeys have 16-pane hornless sash windows.
The property has not been inspected.
