Description
Monmouthshire House is a two-storey house featuring a Georgian frontage, with a roughcast render and a slate roof that has swept overhanging bracketed eaves. The building has corniced brick stacks located at the right end and at the former division on the ridge. The main unit has a three-window range, while the left end has one window. The windows are 12-pane sashes with exposed frames and shallow sills, with 20-pane sashes on the ground floor. A wide segmental-arched latticed porch leads to a part-glazed panelled door.
On either side of the frontage, garden walls extend and connect to slender iron railings that feature a centre rail and spear finials, running across the entire front and incorporating a gate at the centre right.
Inside, the main area is one room deep and includes an open fireplace with a timber lintel, with stairs rising beside it and boarded doors on either side. The interior features chamfered and stopped cross beams, and a fine post and panel wooden screen is located adjacent to the front entrance. The rear has stone flags, and there is a former cellar at a lower level.
