Description

The building is an L-shaped courtyard range located at the rear of Vaynol Old Hall, featuring an enclosing yard wall at the southern end. It is constructed of stone rubble and has slate roofs. The structure is one and a half storeys high and includes coach housing along with some domestic accommodation.

At the top of the courtyard, there is a 5-window range running east-west, which features 16-pane sash windows in gabled attic dormers. There are later inserted garages present as well. The north-south range consists of 4 + 2 window bays, with small-pane casement windows, a boarded garage, and carriage gates below the central entrance, which is flanked by windows. The right-hand end has two windows set back, with steps leading up to a boarded door next to a 12-pane sash window.

On the rear of the east-west range, there is a Tudor doorway with a freestone surround and rounded steps. The return range extends north at the west end and includes small-pane sash windows and freestone chimneys. Notably, the southern part of the slate roof has been renewed.

The cobbled courtyard is enclosed at its southern end by a rubble wall topped with slate copings, which curves inward to square gate piers with pyramidal caps and an iron overthrow.
