Description

The Boer War Memorial is situated on a stepped octagonal plinth and features a freestone square base with a moulded cornice and blank marble panels, except for the front (north) side facing Cambrian Square, which displays a commemorative inscription in black letters. Atop the base stands a cast iron lamp post, which has its own splayed base adorned with neo-classical foliage in relief. The post is fluted higher up and is topped with a foliage capital, culminating in a lantern that now contains a replacement electric light.
