Description
The Grand Lodge at the main entrance to Vaynol Park is a single-storey building constructed in the Tudor style, featuring rock-faced rubble and a slate roof. It has an 'L'-shaped plan, with the entrance positioned flush against the projecting gabled wing that faces the driveway. This wing includes a stone-roofed, canted bay window with stone mullions and transoms, which is decorated with a pilaster pinnacle above and crude Tudor panelling in the apron below. The bay window is flanked by large arrow-slit windows that have extended hoodmoulds, with one window shaped into a lozenge at its center. The entrance features an open Tudor arch and an asymmetrically stepped 'Dutch' parapet, which is situated between small crenellated towers. The gable displays a string course that suggests the presence of a parapet. Additionally, there is a pointed bay on the southeast side gable and a two-storey tower at the rear, complete with stone chimney stacks.
