Description

The outbuildings to the service courtyard at the southeast of the Town Hall are primarily early 19th century, dating from the time of Bishop Majendie's episcopate, with modern alterations made after the conversion to Town Hall use in the 1960s. On the west side, a screen wall connects to the gable end of the Town Hall and leads to a low two-storey brick range facing the drive, topped with slate roofs. This structure extends to the right and includes a taller former coach house featuring a six-window south front. The first floor has small pane sash windows with a cill band and a diagonally set brick cornice. There are timber lintels above boarded coach openings, along with inserted drip moulds. A band course runs around the plan brick east elevation, which has a crenellated screen wall and a broad opening. An external staircase is located on the inner side of the coach house, and modern additions have created two smaller courtyards.
