Description

The gateway to the Bible Garden is a 19th-century structure made of coursed rubble, featuring a gabled design with a parapet and stepped buttresses. It has a 4-centred archway topped with an iron tablet that displays a Bishop’s mitre, dated 1812 and initialled H B (Henricus Bangoriensis). The gateway is flanked by double iron gates that were cast by Mersey Foundry in Liverpool. On the inner side, there is a similar iron plaque with an attached lamp holder, although the lamp is missing. Short sections of crenellated walls are present on either side of the gateway.
