Description
The pigsties at Bryngwdion are a Grade II listed building, designed in a lean-to form. The main range features a high wall that serves as the stone boundary wall for the farmyard. Lower gabled ranges extend at right angles towards the farmhouse, with low walls connecting to the lean-to range at each end, creating pens. There is one larger pen at each end and two smaller pens situated between the lower ranges, divided by a wall. The structure is built from roughly coursed rubblestone with a harled finish, topped with slate roofs that have slate coping.
The lean-to range includes openings to the pens, and there are additional doorways on both sides of the lower ranges that also provide access to the pens, which have cobbled floors. Inside the lean-to range, there is a full-length passage with a slate floor and a low rubblestone wall on the pen side. Above this wall, slate slabs are set on edge and vertically to create separate stalls, each containing individual elongated octagonal slate troughs.
