Description

Capel Ebenezer is a chapel built of snecked squared granite, featuring a slate roof and positioned gable end to the road. In front, there is a lower porch with an ashlar stone parapet and a central gabled arch supported by sturdy pilasters in a Classical style. The entrance has panelled double doors, with narrow paned slit windows on each side. Above the porch, set back in the gable end, is a stone Palladian window that lights the main body of the chapel, along with a circular window above it, which has an architrave on the upper half. The side elevation consists of four window bays that extend back to the adjoining manse, featuring 24-pane sash windows with arched heads and a chamfered plinth.

Inside, there is a full-width transverse lobby with two doors leading to the two aisles of the chapel. The floor is slightly raked, and the walls are rendered and lined, topped with a boarded ceiling that is panelled in 12 bays and includes two ventilation roses. The boarded dado adds to the interior detail. The set fawr is defined by a panelled enclosure with a galleried top register and rounded corners. Inside, cushioned benches surround the raised pulpit, which has steps on either side. Behind the pulpit is a Classical reredos featuring fluted Corinthian pilasters that support an entablature and segmental pediment. The central arched feature includes a fan motif, with large brass lamps on brackets positioned on either side. The three banks of pews are divided down the center. A clock on the rear wall faces the preacher. All the joinery is made of ginger-stained pine. At the rear of the chapel, there is a small transverse vestry and a Sunday school room that continues to the right as the manse.
