Description
The Schoolroom and Schoolhouse were built together from rubble stonework and feature a continuous slate roof. The gable wall of the house is rendered. The schoolroom has a front with four tall round-headed 8-pane sash windows, with the heads formed by 9-inch brick arches, and a small coped gable at the center. Entrance is through a gabled porch with moulded bargeboards, which contains a pair of asymmetrically placed 2-panelled doors at the upper end. The rear of the building is pebbledashed and has similar windows, but lacks the central gable. The schoolhouse is two storeys high with three window bays, featuring a central half-glazed panelled door within a later glazed gabled porch. The original windows on either side have been replaced in the 1960s with larger windows and stone lintels, but the upper floor still retains the original 4-pane unhorned sash windows with expressed boxes. At the center, there is a small coped gable that matches the one on the schoolroom, but it has an inset uninscribed slate. The row of buildings is topped with three tall rendered stacks, each with three clayware pots. Not seen at the time of inspection.
