Description

Ty Capel is a house dating from the 18th century, situated at the rear of a chapel and alongside it. The house is constructed of pebbledashed stone rubble with smooth rendered quoins, sill bands, and shaped architraves around the windows. It has a slate roof and gable-end stacks topped with blue stoneware pots. The roof extends behind the chapel to cover a Sunday school room. The front of the house features a long garden, bordered on the west side by a stream and a minor road. A boarded door, positioned to the right, has a five-pane overlight. There are 16 and 20-pane sash windows, four on the first floor, with the fourth window positioned above the door in the angle between the house and the chapel. This window provides direct access to the schoolroom/vestry. A service lean-to extends from the rear of the house.

Inside, a central passage runs through the house, with reception rooms on either side. The fireplaces have been renewed. The building is separated from the vestry located behind the chapel by a stone wall.
