Description
The sundial in the churchyard of the Church of St Beuno is a Grade II listed structure. It features a vertical slab of granite that measures 500mm wide, 125mm thick, and is approximately 2 meters high, although it has been reduced by about 30cm. The sundial has a wheel cross head and is drilled through to accommodate a gnomon. It includes eight radial lines leading to a lightly inscribed hour circle, which follows the octaval system used in Anglo-Saxon times, marking the 24 hours as 8 'tides'. The reverse side of the sundial is plain.
