Description
The Hermitage is a 2-storey house featuring pebble-dashed walls, a slate roof, and roughcast end stacks. The entrance front is flanked by houses on the right (Old Barracks Cottage) and left (The Orchard), with the entrance located in a lean-to on the right side, adjacent to Old Barracks Cottage. This entrance includes a half-glazed panel door, a 2-pane horizontal-sliding sash window to the right, and a boarded door. The main range has a replacement 2-light window to the left of the entrance, while the upper storey features an enlarged 3-light window to the left and a plain stair window to the right.
The rear elevation, which is 2½-storeys high with 2 windows, was raised in the second half of the 20th century. It includes an added lean-to conservatory on the lower storey, 12-pane horned sash windows in the upper storey, and 2-light roof dormers along with a central skylight.
Inside, the entrance hall has an open-well stair with a plain newel and balusters, although the rest of the interior has been altered.
