Description

The garden wall on the west and north sides of The Orchard and The Hermitage is a rubble-stone structure approximately 4 meters high. Starting from the southwest end, where it returns to face Rosemary Lane and includes a doorway, the wall extends up New Street. It then curves around 90 degrees, but this section has been breached to allow access to a new house called Orchard Mews. Continuing from this breach, the wall leads to the entrance of The Hermitage. Within this part of the wall, there is a segmental-headed opening that features a boarded door. The wall concludes with two plain but substantial square piers that span the driveway to The Hermitage.
