Description
Y Craig Wen is a 2-storey house built in a T-plan layout. The main front features a 3-window arrangement with a slightly protruding central bay. The walls and chimney stacks on either side of the central bay are rendered and painted, topped with a slate roof that has projecting verges. The entrance is located in the right-hand gable return, which includes an intricately designed trellis-work porch featuring turned finials, fretted barge boards, and lozenge-patterned lattice work in a Chinoiserie style. To the right of the porch are 12-pane hornless sash windows, while the left side has blind window spaces. The main elevation is highlighted by the advanced gabled central bay and three smaller gables above the other bays. The right-hand bay has 12-pane sash windows on both floors, while the central and left-hand bays each feature small-paned sashes in canted bay windows on the ground floor and tripartite sash windows above, with a hood mould only over the central bay.
Inside, there is an original open string dog leg staircase with stick balusters, and some fireplaces remain, along with one pair of panelled window shutters.
