Description
Trinity House is a purpose-built shop with accommodation above, dating from the 19th century. It is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring two principal bays and a narrower bay on the right that houses the entrance to the upper accommodation. The frontage is made of red brick with yellow brick dressings, which has been painted. The roof is a mansard style covered with slate and has a modillioned eaves cornice, along with yellow and red brick stacks.
The shop on the left has a contemporary frontage, with horned four-pane sash windows flanking a central half-glazed door. It features a framework of half columns with a common iron grille and a blind box above, as well as two canted oriel windows with four-pane sashes above. To the right, there is a panelled door leading to the accommodation, with a four-pane sash window above it. The roof includes two pedimented dormers.
Inside, the ground floor shop is said to have a tiled frieze with a painted motif of grazing cattle, although this is currently hidden by shop fittings. Most of the frieze is reportedly intact, with some tiles stored on the premises.
