Description
Tyddyn Du is a single-storey, two-window croglofft cottage that includes a single-storey agricultural range extending to the right end of the building. It is constructed from local rubble and has a pebble-dashed front elevation, while the rear is limewashed. The roof is covered with small slates, featuring stone copings and rendered end stacks, with the southern stack being larger. The doorway is positioned towards the centre and features a plank door within a small added lean-to porch. To the left of the door is a four-pane window, and to the right is a nine-pane window, both with smooth-rendered surrounds. There is also a small skylight in the croglofft.
Adjacent to the gable end of the cottage is a stable, which may have originally served as a cow-byre, featuring a doorway next to the dwelling and another in the gable end. Inside, the cottage is divided by a thin partition immediately to the right of the doorway, creating a two-roomed layout, with an additional small room partitioned in the rear corner of the main living room. The main room includes a deep fireplace and a screen that separates it from the front doorway. The croglofft remains above the secondary room to the right.
