Description

131-135 High Street in Linlithgow is a two-storey and attic house with a shop and carriage pend, built in 1867. The northern elevation features squared, coursed, and stugged sandstone rubble, which is painted at the ground level. It has a base, a band, and an eaves course, with basket-headed openings at the ground floor that have chamfered and roll-moulded surrounds. The first floor has architraved windows.

On the southern entrance elevation, there is a deep-set half-glazed door to the shop at the center, with a mortar and pestle trade sign on a wrought-iron bracket above. To the left, there is an enlarged window with fixed pane glazing, and a segmental-headed carriage pend to the outer left. To the right of the center, there is a fanlit boarded door leading to the house, with a half-glazed vestibule door and a window to the outer right. The first floor has four windows.

The building features four-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with mutual ashlar coped skew, and a coped sandstone stack to the right. There are two slate-hung canted dormers with piended roofs and finials, along with a rooflight to the left.
