Description
129 High Street in Linlithgow is a two-storey, four-bay symmetrical house built in 1829, featuring classical architectural details. The exterior is made of cream sandstone rubble, squared and coursed on the north elevation, with a base course, rusticated quoins, and raised margins around the windows.
On the north elevation, there are stone steps leading to a pilastered and corniced doorpiece located in the second bay from the right. This doorpiece includes a fanlit panelled door and a carved oak leaf design on the frieze. The windows on both the ground and first floors are arranged in a regular pattern.
The south (rear) elevation has a stair window in the center, which features a lintel that is initialled and dated 'JB 1829'. The house has 12-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, ashlar coped skews, and substantial chimney stacks on the gables.
Inside, there is a curved stair with an iron balustrade, a classical slate chimneypiece, and a heavy cornice in the ground floor room.
