Description
139 High Street in Linlithgow is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house featuring a carriage pend. The northern elevation is constructed of cream coursed and squared sandstone rubble. It has a base and eaves course, with painted raised margins and relieving arches above the first-floor windows.
On the northern entrance elevation, there is a pilastered doorpiece on the outer left, although the capitals have been removed. This doorpiece includes a fanlit, two-leaf boarded door. To the right, there is a bipartite window with an ashlar mullion, and on the outer right, a segmental-headed carriage pend with an impost block and keystone. The first floor has regular fenestration.
There is a two-storey projection in the re-entrant angle that connects to the advanced neighbour on the right, which provides access to 139. This projection features a blocked door on the northern side and a Gothic sash window with tracery on the first floor, along with a door on the eastern elevation. The house has a piended roof.
The windows are plate glass sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slate. The left gable has an ashlar coped skew and a coped sandstone stack.
