Description

The War Memorial in Levengrove Park, Dumbarton, was designed by the architects Sir John Burnet, Son & Dick and completed in 1920. It features a squat obelisk that stands on a rectangular plinth above a stepped base. The memorial is enclosed by a cast-iron railing with curved low quadrant walls made of stugged and snecked ashlar. It has square terminal piers, and the obelisk itself is decorated with wide and narrow banded ashlar. A bronze winged figure is positioned on the north face of the obelisk.
