Description
The Cenotaph in George Square, Glasgow, is a monument designed by architect Sir J J Burnet between 1921 and 1924, with sculpture work by Ernest Gillick. This polished grey granite structure features a U-plan layout with low walls and a tall, squat obelisk at its center, which has incised details and a gilded cross. At the entrance to the enclosure, there are two sculptured lions in a couchant position, all crafted from polished light grey granite.
